March 23, 2021 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kent, OH – On Saturday, April 17, downtown Kent will take the shape of a miniature golf course for Putt Around Downtown. Main Street Kent is hosting this unique, family-friendly event where businesses will create a custom miniature golf hole for participating golfers to play. Golfers will check in at the Kent State Hotel & Conference Center and play the round of golf at their leisure from 11am to 5pm. Each participant will receive a custom black squirrel golf ball sponsored by Hall-Green Agency, a score card and pencil. Guests are invited to bring their own putters, or putters will be available to borrow at check-in. Tickets are $10 per golfer and are available at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/putt-around-downtown-kent-2021-tickets-147683506343
Check-in times are staggered to prevent crowding and allow for proper distancing; face masks are required. Each group will be sent to their starting hole like a shotgun tournament. Participants are encouraged to take their time, stopping for lunch, drinks and/or shopping during the round. The course will be situated within the DORA (Kent’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area), so adult beverages may be purchased at downtown bars/restaurants for outdoor consumption. (Special DORA cups and wristbands are required and available at participating establishments.) The course will be set up at several downtown businesses throughout the district, including stops at the Dan Smith Community Park, where College Town Kent will host a hole, and Hometown Bank Plaza, where Leadership Portage County will set one up as well. At the conclusion of the event, participants will be able to enter their scores online to be entered to win a variety of prizes including gift cards, golf items and more!
